Political action committees funded by leading US sportsbook operators including DraftKings, FanDuel, Fanatics, and Bet365 have resumed their political advertising campaigns as the November 3 midterm elections draw closer. The coordinated effort underscores the betting industry's aggressive push to influence lawmakers at the state level, where legislative decisions ultimately determine sportsbook licensing, tax rates, and operational regulations.
According to filings and reporting, the four operators have collectively invested nearly $100 million into a network of political committees over the past year. The primary conduit for these contributions is Win for America PAC, which channels funds from sportsbook operators to various affiliated political committees. Between July and September alone, DraftKings, Fanatics, and Bet365 contributed a combined $9.65 million to Win for America. The PAC then distributed $5.9 million to the American Conservative Fund and $2.7 million to American Future. FanDuel has been a particularly heavy investor historically, bringing its total contributions to Win for America to $27 million by July of this year.
The political committees employ dual-track strategies to obscure their gambling industry backing. American Future PAC, which describes itself as a liberal political organization, has rolled out digital advertising targeting Democratic and Republican candidates across multiple states including Alabama, Illinois, Georgia, and Maryland. However, its ads focus on traditional Democratic talking points around immigration and gun control rather than gambling regulation, concealing the sportsbook industry's financial interest. The committee has spent at least $30,000 on digital ads across 10 races, along with significant television and direct mail expenditures. American Conservative Fund similarly supports Republican candidates, having contributed $200,000 to Moving Arizona Forward PAC in September.
The industry's strategy reflects a calculated decision to build influence at the state legislative level, where gambling regulation remains primarily determined. Previous reporting showed that Win for America had already spent more than $20 million on primary election campaigns across at least six states earlier in 2026. By resuming advertising on platforms like Meta and Google in early October after a summer pause, these committees are positioning themselves to shape the political climate during the critical final weeks before voters head to the polls.
This political investment activity reveals the high stakes facing the sportsbook industry as regulatory frameworks continue to evolve across US jurisdictions. With thousands of state legislative seats in play on November 3, the renewed advertising push represents another significant effort by sportsbook operators to secure favorable regulatory conditions that protect their market access and operational flexibility. The scale of spending and coordination among multiple major operators demonstrates the industry's conviction that state-level political influence directly impacts their business prospects.
