Software (9)

Microgaming obviously feels a proprietary interest in this game, which is not only the first five-reel, nine-line slot game it has ever released into the market, it is also the first ever to offer a scatter symbol. It carries a lot of the options that have allowed the company to become a leader in the online software market. Customizing speed and sound means something to players who want the very best. There is a user-friendly, easily navigable interface. As always, safety and security of the game are top priorities for Microgaming.

Easy to Understand (9)

Slots are slots, so the part about the reels spinning and when they stop is easy enough. Those who are not familiar with progressive games need to do a little homework, but all of the required stuff is explained either in the game's interface or in the Help files, and the message is simple: you have to bet nine coins and nine paylines to have a possibility of winning the progressive jackpot. Questions about anything else can be answered in an organized, comprehensive collection of help files which can be accessed by clicking the "?" icon at the top left corner of the screen.

Graphics & Sounds (8)

We appreciate the graphic work by the designers at Microgaming, but we think perhaps the symbols in this game are not as clear as they should be. Perhaps it relates to the theme of the game, but maybe they could have been more well-defined. That having been said, the interface has easy-to-read graphics, which as we know, aids functionality. The soundtrack is indigenous to the theme, which is not always the case in slot of table games, and that's a positive. If you don't see music or sound effects as a positive thing, you can shut off any part of the sound package (whether it be win sounds, game sounds or background sounds).

Theme and Concept (8)

It is of course an Egyptian theme, complete with the pyramids, the sphinx, the pharoahs, the gold, etc. You are taken into an ancient land where there were no slot machines - although we think there might have been keno. There is also that theme of going after treasure, which is logical for someone playing in a casino game. We can't necessarily give it points for originality, as we've seen more unique stuff, from Microgaming especially. But it's something everyone can understand and relate to.

Game Features (8)

There aren't any bonus games, and no Gamble Bonus, but as far as the mechanics of the game are concerned, there are a lot of game features that work to make the experience better.. One of them is the QuickSpin feature, which will increase the speed at which the reels themselves spin, which lets you get in more play quicker. AutoPlay deserves mention too. You can set the number of coins you want to play, along the number of lines you want to enable, the wager size, the time between spins and the number of spins you want it to be in effect. So you can have your cake and coffee and still be trying hard for that jackpot!

Betting Options (8)

Treasure Nile has a fixed coin size of .50. If you bet nine coins and activate nine paylines, you're betting $4.50 per spin. You can click the "Bet Max" button to get to that wager without having to go through any other orchestrations.

Jackpots (10)

The progressive jackpot starts at $40,000 and will continue to increase until someone hits it. Jackpots have been known to reach a half million dollars or more. You must hit five Pharoahs on the ninth payline to win the jackpot. As far as the regular symbols are concerned, the jackpots are very, very solid. Five Pharoahs in an enabled payline (other than the ninth) will bring 6000 coins, while five Sphinx symbols fetches 3000. There are two other symbols - the Anubis and Ankh - which will bring over 1000 coins for five in a payline.
