There are a few different types of roulette out there, and in an attempt to mix things up and give players more options, a lot of casino sites offer mini roulette in addition to the normal selection of American roulette and European roulette. While it's well-known that American roulette has worse odds than the European style of the game, not a lot of players are familiar enough with the mini version to be able to say one way or another. However, we're here to tell you that you should avoid mini roulette and stick to the European version, and we're going to show you why.

If you place a $100 bet on a straight-up wager in European roulette, then you're going to win $3500 a total of 1/37 of the time, and you'll lose $100 a total of 36/37 of the time. Your value from winning is $94.59 while your value from losing is -$97.30, and this means that you're going to lose $2.70 on average from this bet. It also means that the house advantage on this bet is 2.7 percent which isn't bad considering that you don't really have to learn any special skills to play this game.

Now consider the same $100 wager on a straight-up bet in mini roulette with its numbers 1-12 and a single green zero. Now you have a 1/13 chance of winning a payout of $1100, and you have a 12/13 chance of losing $100. Your value from winning this time is $84.62, and your value from losing is -$92.31. Your average loss is going to be $7.69 to show that this bet has a whooping 7.69 percent house advantage just like all of the rest of the bets on mini roulette.

There are three things we can learn from this illustration. First, it's important to confirm the value of your bets when you try a new game that doesn't have much documentation. Second, you need to make sure that you avoid bets on mini roulette. Third, you don't have to deal with making uninformed decisions about which casino games to play because we show you what you need to know here on this site. Overall, European roulette continues to be the game that you should stick with if you're looking to play this type of game.
