Spin3 Provides Games for Apple iPhone

So far online and wireless gaming has by and large been restricted to PC users. Apple users have had to contend with the few casinos offering no download instant play games. But now this seems to be changing. First it was PokerStars that came out with a Macintosh compatible download poker software. Now Spin3 has come out with mobile games for Apple Inc.'s iPhone and iPod.

Spin3 is a division of Spiral Solutions Limited. It has been for some time offering casino games for mobile phones, which it has developed in partnership with Microgaming. To start with the iPhone will offer only three games, but these are three of the best. Blackjack and Tomb Raider have already been launched. Tomb Raider is the popular online video slot based on Lara Croft. Microgaming's most popular progressive jackpot slots, Major Millions, will be added later this month at the European i-Gaming Congress and Expo.

Till now the system worked as follows. Players had to select their mobile phone model from a list provided by the online casino. The online casino would then send a text message that enabled the player to download the casino software on to his cell phone. However the software developed by Spin3 for the iPhone works differently. The gaming platform has been integrated into the iPhone's browser and players can play the games without any fuss.

Despite the difference in technology the quality of the games available on the iPhone is the same as that available in PC compatible download casino software. The iPhone mobile games have sharp graphics and enhanced in-game effects that one finds in online casinos. Further, Spin3 has developed these games for touch mobile digital devices. Therefore players do not use the mouse or trackball to navigate but their fingers. The fingers push the chips to the betting area and the fingers spin the slot machine. The games are also compatible with the iPhone's flip-screen feature enabling players to play either horizontally or vertically. A feature soon to be added is customized personal messages for the players.

Spin3 has made the move to integrate with Apple's iPhone at the right time. The online and wireless gaming market is extremely competitive and no market segment is too small. Matti Zinder, Head of Spin3, acknowledges, "Sales of the iPhone have been truly staggering, with one million sold only 74 days after launch and the iPhone 3G taking only three days to reach this volume." Therefore aligning with the iPhone will enable Spin3 to capture this segment of the mobile gaming market.
