Progressive jackpot online slot games are those whose jackpot payouts are not fixed. The jackpot amount keeps increasing till the jackpot is hit. When that happens, the winner gets the entire amount then available in the jackpot and the jackpot is reset to the minimum level. The jackpot amount keeps increasing because a portion of every wager placed on that game adds to the jackpot amount. Progressive jackpot online slot games usually display a ticker with the current value of the jackpot.

Within this broad description of progressive jackpot slots there are different categories. Two of those that are being discussed in this article are shared progressive jackpots and multi level progressive jackpots. Shared progressive jackpots are different online slot games that share the same progressive jackpot. Whenever any player wagers at any one of the games the common progressive jackpot increases. This increased amount reflects simultaneously at the progressive jackpot tickers of all the games that share the jackpot. All the games always show the same value for the jackpot. When the jackpot is hit playing any one of the slot games, the jackpot amount is reset to the minimum value at all the slot games that share the jackpot.

In multi level jackpots the slot game has a number of jackpots that can be independently hit. The portion of the player's wager that is apportioned to the jackpot is broken up and allotted separately to each jackpot level. Hence each jackpot level keeps on increasing. When a particular level is hit it is reset to the minimum level and the other jackpots carry on as before.

Two of the most popular progressive jackpots in the online casino industry are both shared and multi level jackpots. They are Mega Moolah from Microgaming and the Marvel Series jackpots from Cryptologic. The progressive jackpot in Mega Moolah is hit in a unique fashion. A bonus game is triggered randomly. In the bonus game the player spins a wheel that is divided into radial sections. Each section is one of four colors. The color at which the wheel stops decides which jackpot is won. The four progressive jackpot levels are Mega Progressive, which starts at 1 million; Major Progressive, which starts at 10,000; Minor Progressive, which starts at 100 and Mini Progressive, which starts at 10. Mega Moolah was launched in November 2006 as a multi level stand alone progressive slot game. It has an African Safari theme. Towards the end of 2008 Microgaming released Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive, which was linked to the same progressive jackpot. Mega Moolah 5 Reel Drive has a theme of road driving. The third online slot game sharing the Mega Moolah jackpot was released in April 2009. This was Mega Moolah Summertime and has a summer theme.

Cryptologic's Marvel Series progressive jackpot online slots have three levels. The jackpots are triggered randomly. The largest jackpot is the Marvel jackpot that resets at 5,000. Next is the Super Hero jackpot that resets at 500. The smallest is the Hero jackpot that rests at 50. There are a large number of online slot games that share the Marvel Series progressive jackpot. These are based on the super heroes of Marvel Comics. The slots have been developed by Cryptologic under license from Marvel Comics and are known as branded slots. The more popular online slot games in this series are The Incredible Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, Elektra and Wolverine.

These are my favorite kinds of progressive. I really enjoy the fact and the idea that you can win on multiple levels which are easier then winning and hitting the big jackpot. It's like the game gives you a shot at many different progressive jackpots that make these multi-level progressive type games attractive to me as I'm sure with other players.

Yeah if I were to be an avid progressive player (although I do play I tend to play other games more then progressive online casino slots games) I'd definitely be playing the multi-level type progressive games such as Mega Moolah described here. The fact is that the regular type progressive games that you can only win if you hit a certain combination (generally five wild symbols on a specific payline) are very difficult to hit and unlikely to win. The nice thing about the multi-level games is that you have several different opportunities to win the different levels and additionally the nice thing is that your wager from what I understand actually plays a role in how likely it is to win. I know that I've managed to hit the mini jackpot at Microgaming casinos a few times now while playing the Mega Moolah progressive jackpot game.

The multi-level progressives provide a level of excitement that other progressive games have a difficult time doing. I find that with the multi-level progressives the fact that you can win smaller amounts and these amounts are won more often as you can see when they reset it's really encouraging. I definitely favor these kinds of progressive games over the standard type of progressive online casino games!

Yeah agreed these games are more fun. The fact that it's not only this massive progressive that can be hit and is hit very in frequently but that there are several levels of which some of the lower levels can be hit it's quite nice actually! I favor these over the other kinds of progressive games out there and available for play. I don't think I've really ever seen any of these kinds of progressives in regular land casinos though.
