A press release from Playtech has stated that the omni-channel gaming company has been awarded the top B2B prize at the second annual Malta iGaming Excellence Awards (MIGEA). Malta is a leading regulatory jurisdiction for online gambling and the event has been instituted to reward and celebrate the companies and individuals constantly working to innovate and improve standards in the iGaming industry.

Playtech pointed out that the award recognised the series of technological innovations, industry-first features and exclusive content developed by it during the 12-month judging period. Some of these were specially mentioned and will be apparent to players at Playtech powered online casinos. The first one was the Age of the Gods progressive jackpot series. A number of slot games have been linked to the same progressive jackpot network for long. But Playtech introduced cross-vertical shared jackpot liquidity with this series. The progressive jackpot is now integrated with RNG roulette, live casino roulette, online bingo and online poker.

The next achievement was cited as the industry-first automatically re-triggering Daily and Weekly jackpots across the Sporting Legends series. These jackpots are guaranteed to hit once a day and once a week respectively. The first two titles in this series were Frankie Dettori and Ronnie O’Sullivan. The third World Cup Top Trumps is expected to go live soon.

Also cited was the growth of the unrivalled branded content selection following Playtech’s major deal struck last year to develop DC Entertainment titles in association with Warner Bros. A number of these super hero slots have already gone live. Usually branded slots based on movies are released a few years later. But Playtech released Justice League on the same day as the film, another industry first.

There were other Playtech achievements that work behind the scenes as far as players are considered. The Gaming Platform as a Service is a Playtech development system that has all the tools necessary to build a slot game from scratch, including an accelerated maths creation engine and a simple drag and drop tool. The Marketplace service is an intuitive, easy-to-use app-store approach to game discovery and configuration for licensees. It uses advanced algorithms to provide a recommendation service.

Shimon Akad, COO of Playtech, said, “Continuous innovation is at the heart of Playtech’s long-term growth and development strategy, and is what sets us apart from other B2B suppliers in the industry.” Although only in its second year, MIGEA is already one of the highlights of Europe’s iGaming awards calendar.
