New Tourney Formats from Microgaming

In addition to launching some large guaranteed prize pool slots tournaments at its online casinos, Microgaming, the world's largest provider of online gaming software, has introduced tournaments with innovative features in its popular Slot and Blackjack Tournament schedule. These innovative, groundbreaking new tournament formats will not only add value to the online casinos but will also inject greater liquidity into the tournament network. This was announced by Microgaming through a press release from its Headquarters in Isle of Man.

Some of the new tournament formats are described below. The One Shot Tournament is an exciting new event. Players will have just one attempt to record their best possible overall score. There are no Add-Ons or Re-Buys offered in One Shot Tournaments. This has been a demand from many Microgaming players who feel that Add-on or Re-Buy tournaments are tilted in favor of players who can afford larger bankrolls. The other attraction in this all out, fast and frantic tournament format is that the winner takes home the entire prize pool.

Reloader Tournaments are single round tournaments without Add-Ons. But players can 'reload' for multiple chances of winning. Reloader tournaments have an even playing field, where everyone has an equal chance of recording the top score with each turn that they take. On the other hand Extender Tournaments are score building events where players can build a total score using Add-Ons to extend their initial base score. Each Add-On offers additional coins and time. A player may also Re-Buy into Extender Tournament and attempt to beat their previous score.

The Survivor tournaments have the most fascinating format of all the new additions. These online tournaments are multiple round tournaments where a percentage of players are eliminated at the end of each round. Players buy-in to the tournament with a one time entry fee and there are no Add-Ons or Re-Buys allowed. The highest placed survivor wins the first prize. On the blackjack tournaments front Microgaming has introduced Blackjack Attack. This is a new, weekly, $500 guaranteed Blackjack Tournament with multiple rounds, where the highest scoring players move to the next levels.

Mike Hebden, Head of Casino at Microgaming, said that the additions to the Slot and Blackjack Tournament schedules deliver a number of new, smart, player focused initiatives. He was sure that these would meet the expectations of even the most demanding online tournament players. Hebden added, "Microgaming constantly strives for innovation and we will continue to analyze our casino offering and make further improvements to ensure we stay ahead of the curve as the market evolves."
