Neteller Targets Norwegian Customers

The Payment Act was passed by the Norwegian parliament and received the formal royal assent in February 2010. This act, very similar to the UIGEA of the United States, makes it illegal for financial organizations to effect transfers of deposits to online casinos and also to process payments on their behalf. The Payment Act has become effective from June 1, 2010. What is immediately expected is that Norwegian banks that have issued credit cards will block the use of these cards for depositing funds at online casinos. This is a golden opportunity for alternative options providers to capture market share and Neteller has seized it with both hands.

In an e-mail sent to all its subscribers and through other mechanisms, Neteller is appraising online players of the situation in Norway and how it can fill the breach. This is how the message begins, "Attention members in Norway! As a result of today's legislation changes, deposits made to many merchant sites using Norwegian-issued MasterCard or VISA cards will be declined by the issuing bank. So if you are looking for an alternative payment option to use at a site anywhere in the world, check out the Neteller eWallet."

The message goes on to explain that there are many easy and free options for transferring funds to the Neteller eWallet, which can then be used for depositing at online casinos by bypassing the conventional financial organizations. The Neteller eWallet can be funded from local bank accounts in Norway or using international bank transfers. Whereas direct transfers to online casinos from bank accounts will easily come on their radar, transfers to Neteller will be allowed because the Neteller eWallet can be used to purchase any thing online and not just online casino chips.

However Neteller recommends that Norwegian players purchase Ukash vouchers and use these to fund their Neteller accounts. The transaction is immediate, does not pass through conventional banking channels and is paid for in advance thus promoting responsible gambling. The Neteller message informs that players in Norway can purchase Ukash vouchers at their nearest Narvesen or 7-Eleven store. The Norwegian eWallet guide can be downloaded from the message itself. It provides comprehensive information on Neteller including details of the Net+ Prepaid MasterCard.

The Payment Act has become effective at a wrong time because the Football World Cup kicks off in ten days and the demand for online betting services will be high. Neteller is aware of this and is offering excellent promotions to encourage maximum use of its products not just in Norway but all over the world. All Neteller users will get 0.5% cash back on more than normal transfers made to online gaming operators and six weekly prizes to players who use Neteller services the most.
