Affiliates drive traffic to online casinos for which they receive a commission. However, the affiliate program business is not a casual one. It is run on totally professional lines with well conceived marketing plans and regular training and education of the affiliate members. One mechanism for this is through international conferences where affiliate members of the programs of leading online gambling operators can get together. The leading affiliate conference is the London Affiliate Conference (LAC). It is organized by iGaming Business, which publishes a number of reputed magazines and journals on online gambling. The fourth event was held in 2010 and drew 2,200 delegates. The fifth LAC is scheduled to be held between January 27 and January 31, 2011 at Old Billingsgate Market.

The detailed schedule for the conference has been now released and can be viewed at the LAC web site. January 27 is reserved for registration, networking and partying. The business part begins on January 28. LAC 2011 introduces a new and innovative feature in the form of a round table discussion. All attending affiliates can discuss the current major issues that the industry faces, air their opinions and seek advice on relevant matters. Kiera Goymour, Event Manager, said, "We are always looking for ways to make the conference program more relevant for today's audience, and giving affiliates an opportunity to voice their concerns and experiences made sense. The majority of our delegates are skilled online marketers and we want to give them the tools to push their sites a step further."

In keeping with this philosophy one session is devoted to Facebook Ads. There will be an overview of Ads and Pages, and delegates will learn all about Facebook's product offerings, audience breakdown, best practice and position on gaming. Today Facebook has over 500 million users worldwide and therefore presents unprecedented targeting capabilities. On January 30 there is a popular session on SEO surgery. Experts will analyze five of the best sites in the industry and explain what makes them tick and how to replicate their success. Other sessions will cover legal aspects, Latin America and value of domain names. An important issue will be the European Union's Privacy & Telecommunications Law, which is due to come into force in April 2011, after which affiliate websites will be required to get consent from their users to receive cookies.

Some of the sponsors include the affiliates for leading gaming operators like Virgin Casino and Roxy Palace Casino. Entry is completely free for all affiliates to attend and includes access to three networking parties, entry to the exhibition hall and both conference rooms, as well as lunch on both days and the opportunity to enter the Affiliate Series of Poker. On the evening of January 27 the iGB Affiliate Awards 2010 will be announced.
