The ICE 2011 gaming show and exposition is scheduled at Earls Court in London from January 25 to January 27. This annual expo has over the last three years attracted industry professionals from 122 nations. Last year in 2010 over 18,500 delegates attended. This year some 400 exhibitors spread across 20,000 square meters will be displaying their products and services.

Most persons who want to attend the ICE expo preregister for the event. Based on the registrations received so far there seems to be a marked increase in the officials from regulatory authorities attending this year. The organizers have reported that over 100 gaming regulators from round the world are sending their representatives. Some of the countries like Swaziland, Bulgaria, Ghana, Singapore and Slovenia do not even figure in discussions on online or offline gaming.

ICE gaming show Director Kate Chambers commented on this important development. She said, "Having so many influential regulators coming to ICE is recognition of the show's international status and the reputation it enjoys amongst legislators and influencers. The reasons they come to London are exactly the same as those of our 20,000 buyers. Both groups attend because they know that ICE hosts the world's smartest innovators and the biggest names in global gaming." Kate added that the gaming industry will benefit from the interest the regulators are taking in ICE. The regulators can experience the sheer size of the industry and familiarize themselves with new technologies. Above all they can be convinced of the socially responsible nature of international gaming. When they go back to their countries this experience will go a long way in enabling them to usher in a liberalized and regulated regime that will also assist in funding budget deficits.

One of the reasons for the increase in the regulators' attendance could be the many seminars during ICE 2011 that will focus on gaming regulation in different jurisdictions in the world. On January 25 there will be discussions on adapting to change in Europe and the outlook in the United States with focus on California and New Jersey. The issues for January 26 include UK regulatory developments, Nordic regulatory developments, online gaming in the United States and regulation in Malta. South American emerging jurisdictions will be discussed on January 27.

The regular online gaming issues will not be ignored during ICE 2011. The conferences cover areas like cyber crime, mobile gaming, social networking and payments. Mergers and acquisitions is bound to be a hot topic given the expected consolidation in the online gaming industry. The exhibitors include software developers like Playtech and Microgaming and payment processors like Moneybookers.
