Grand Prive Investigation Takes a U-Turn

About a week ago eCOGRA announced the completion of its investigation into the Grand Prive affiliate non-payment issue. eCOGRA stated that they had received complete cooperation from Grand Prive and had calculated the amount due to the remainder of the affiliates. It was also reported that Grand Prive had started paying the affiliates. Many thought that with this one of the most unpleasant chapters in the history of online gaming had finally come to a close. However this was not to be.

As soon as eCOGRA's report was out, the affiliates who had put in claims expressed discontent at the amounts recommended by eCOGRA. Whereas no one questioned the integrity of the eCOGRA, it was believed that Grand Prive had either made incomplete information or inaccurate information available to eCOGRA. This prompted Beveridge, the head of the eCOGRA, to reopen the issue with Grand Prive and seek a clarification from them. eCOGRA has now reported that it is no longer receiving any cooperation from Grand Prive and is therefore unable to act any further in this matter.

The public statement released by eCOGRA emphasizes that its mandate from Grand Prive was "to review all records provided by the company in respect of the Grand Prive Affiliate Program software and related database. We were not requested to review any other affiliate program system or information, nor were we made aware of any other system or pertinent information." The statement further avers that the calculations made by eCOGRA were accurate based on the data supplied to them. Since Grand Prive has neither provided them with fresh data nor with a fresh mandate, eCOGRA is unable to proceed in the matter.

This statement from eCOGRA and no response as yet from Grand Prive are fuelling speculation at a tremendous pace. When Grand Prive gave the assignment to eCOGRA late last year, it earned praise from the industry. The affected parties felt that Grand Prive never had any dishonorable intentions and that it wants to come clean, pay its debts and close the chapter. Now a different impression is being created. People are saying that Grand Prive engineered the whole episode so as to create an impression of being fair, pay a fraction of what is due from them and walk away being called a hero. That is why they selected an agency with an impeccable reputation like eCOGRA and furnished them with incomplete and inaccurate information so that the true value of their debts would never be calculated.

The truth will not be known unless Grand Prive responds to the charges made against them and lets eCOGRA complete the investigations, this time with complete access to all information.
