Free Play at WagerWorks CasinosBy: Fabian Rictor, Friday August 20th 2010

All gaming software providers allow players to wager for free at their online casinos. If players want to wager for free at the download casinos then they have to install the software on their computers, register a free play account with the online casino and log in to the casino each time they want to play. They can select the game after logging in. Their account and free play balance are intact even after they log out. If players want to wager for free at instant play casinos then they need to open the casino software in their browsers. They need not register or open an account. But they have to select the games from within the casino software. After exiting from the game they remain within the casino software and their free play balance is intact. But if they exit from the casino no records or balances are maintained. These are the processes adopted by most leading online gaming software providers for free play.
WagerWorks offers a completely different system for free play at its online casinos like Virgin Casino. WagerWorks offers instant play software but players are not required to open any casino software in their browsers. They can select the game from the casino web site and open only that game in their browsers. This significantly reduces the load on the browsers, especially if players have older computers with less memory. All WagerWorks games cannot be played in the free play mode. Those games with progressive jackpots can be played only with real money. This is because wagering on such games is interactive and affects the progressive jackpots available. Some software providers allow players to wager on progressive jackpot games by disabling the progressive jackpot for them. However WagerWorks does not allow free play at all on progressive jackpot casino games.
In order to play a game for free players need to click the "Play for free" button next to the game icon. There are two different free play systems. In the older games players are asked to choose a buy in amount before the game opens. The amount can vary from 0 to 5,000 credits and can be chosen using + and - arrows or by entering the desired amount in the cell provided. The game then opens with the selected balance and players can keep wagering so long as they have a balance. As the balance becomes less, the player can manually reduce the wagered amount so that it is less than the balance. Once the balance is completely depleted the player has to exit the game. He can then reenter the game by repeating the procedure. This system is prevalent in games like Noah’s Ark. Online slots like White Orchid follow essentially the same system, but allow the software to automatically reduce the amount wagered so that it is less than or equal to the balance.
This system is inconvenient because the player is forced to exit and reenter the game if the balance gets totally depleted. Therefore the latest release, The War of the Worlds, follows a different system. The game opens with a default balance of 1,000 credits, without the player being given a choice. When the balance becomes zero, the default balance of 1,000 credits is automatically restored.
