The "Safe & Fair" seal of eCOGRA has become the hallmark of a reputed online gambling portal. In a press release eCOGRA announced that it had "recently marked five years of quality and safety oversight at its 126 accredited poker and casino websites". eCOGRA celebrated this occasion in the only way it knew how to and that is by awarding the seal to three new operators.

The first of these was the sports betting portal of Interwetten. In fact this was the first sports betting site to have received the "Safe & Fair" seal. Interwetten was founded in 1990 and operates from Vienna. It is a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association and the European Sports Security Association. Interwetten's growth has been phenomenal. Today Interwetten has 110 employees and more than 900,000 registered customers in 200 countries. In 2008, 11 million bets amounting to a turnover of €320 million were placed on 90,000 different sports events in more than 70 countries. On this occasion the CEO of Interwetten, Thomas Daubek said that this was a moment for everyone at Interwetten to be proud of and that Interwetten would keep up the good work.

The next two awardees will be familiar names to online casino players – the Jackpot Factory group and the Fortune Lounge group. The online casinos of these groups already carry eCOGRA's "Safe & Fair" seal. The seals were awarded to their online bingo operations. These were the first bingo operations to get the seals. The All Bingo Club was the Jackpot Factory brand to receive the recognition. David Brickman, spokesman and vice president of Player Affairs at the Jackpot Factory group said his company was pleased to demonstrate that its bingo operations have met the same rigorous standards that its poker and casino sites are known for. Platinum Play Bingo was the Fortune Lounge brand to receive the nomination. A spokesman for the Fortune Lounge group said, "This is a tough test, but it brings with it real advantages in operational efficiencies and improved business."

eCOGRA CEO Andrew Beveridge congratulated the awardees. About eCOGRA he said, "eCOGRA can look back on the last five years with some satisfaction. It has seen our standards, inspection and monitoring systems and professional staff expand to embrace all the main Internet gambling platforms, from mobile, live dealer and bingo through sports to casino and poker." He added that eCOGRA would not be resting on its laurels. eCOGRA would continue pushing the limits of online gambling standards and player protection mechanisms further.
