Poker Ride is a poker based progressive jackpot game from Microgaming. This week it gave two six figure hits in successive days. Actually Poker Ride is one of those erratic unpredictable jackpot games. Though the average period between hits is about 8 days, sometimes it hits on consecutive days and other times it does not hit for a month. About three months ago it hit thrice in four days and all hits were well over $100,000. This time the first hit came four days ago and paid out $106,789. The very next day it paid out marginally less at $102,024. It is not yet known if both the hits were at the same online casino. Probably not, because Poker Ride is a Microgaming product and there are plenty of Microgaming online casinos around.

Poker Ride was released in 2005. It is Microgaming's version of Let It Ride. Microgaming's penchant for innovation was as strong then as it is now because in Poker Ride Microgaming turned Let It Ride on its head. In Let It Ride the player places the maximum bet first and if the later cards revealed are not favorable then the player can remove a part of the wager. In Poker Ride the player adds to the wager if the revealed cards are favorable.

Poker Ride is played with a standard deck of 52 cards. The player first makes his "ante" bet. There is also a compulsory bet for the progressive jackpot. The player is dealt three cards face up and two cards are dealt face down. The player has to decide whether to raise or call. If he raises then he adds an identical amount to the wager. If he calls then the same wager continues. One of the face down cards is exposed. The player can now see four of his five cards and reassess whether he should raise or call. Once he decides then the last card is turned over and if the player has a winning hand then his is paid out as per the payout table. The lowest payout is for tens or better, which pays out at even money. The highest payout is for a royal flush at 1,000 to 1. There are payouts for the progressive wager as well. A flush, a full house and a four of a kind have fixed payouts. A straight flush pays 10% of the progressive jackpot amount and a royal flush pays out the entire progressive jackpot.

Poker Ride can be played at all Microgaming online casinos. CasinoAdvisor recommends Platinum Play, Spin Palace, Royal Vegas, All Slots and many other Microgaming casinos that can be played here. Unfortunately Microgaming does not accept American players and hence they will be unable to play Poker Ride. Also Poker Ride is not on offer to those who have registered to play for free because of the progressive jackpot involved.
