In its portfolio of Table Games, the leading online gaming software provider Cryptologic offers a game called Mini Baccarat. In land casinos the baccarat tables generally seat 16 players, eight on each side of the dealers. In online casinos the screen generally displays only eight seats of which only one is functional in single player games. The Cryptologic game displays only five seats and hence has been given the name Mini Baccarat. There is no implication on the payouts or house edges because of this. As is the practice in Cryptologic table games, Mini Baccarat has been offered in a number of betting ranges. The lowest is from $1 to $100 and the highest is from $100 to $5,000. There are no differences in rules. The only purpose of this segregation is to create a land casino ambience where there are tables with different betting ranges to segregate the low rollers from the high rollers.

The game is played in the usual manner. The player can wager on the Banker, Player or Tie bets. Two cards are dealt to the Player hand and two to the Banker hand. If third cards are required as per the rules of baccarat, then the software automatically does the needful. The Player bet pays even money. The Banker bet also pays even money, but with a 5% commission to the online casino. The Tie bet pays 8 to 1. This is a bit disappointing because some online baccarat games pay 9 to 1 for the Tie bet. However, it must be said that even with a payout of 9 to 1 the Tie bet has a big house edge and hence most baccarat players ignore it altogether.

Cryptologic Mini Baccarat is a no frills game. There are no side bets that offer payouts if the Player or Banker gets a pair or side bets that pay out depending on the total number of cards dealt. Also players cannot wager on the margin of the win. Again, the seasoned baccarat players ignore these bets and focus only on the Player and Banker bets.

The most innovative and new feature is the History Scorecard. As such each baccarat deal is independent of the previous one, but baccarat players at land casinos like to track bets and make predictions. The History Scorecard in Cryptologic Mini Blackjack allows for this. The Scorecard tracks wins in columns. If the Banker wins, the first cell in the first Banker column is filled in blue. For successive Banker wins the cells below are filled in blue. When the Player wins for the first time in a session the first cell in the next Player column is entered in red. The process continues in this manner thereafter. The summary provides the number of hands dealt, the percent win break up for each bet and the longest winning streak. The Scorecard is also available in a Detailed View. In this view the cells also contain the final Player and Banker hand values. Baccarat naturals are highlighted in ovals.
