Craps Odds

Craps can be a difficult game when you are first learning to play. There are several kinds of bets, and a lot of rules that you need to learn. For example some bets cannot be placed until after point is made. If you don't know what point is that would be a problem in playing this game. All though most casino croupiers will call out when point has been made, so you can make the correct move. You also need to be aware that you are not always the shooter, so you are betting on someone else's roll of the dice in most cases.

There are a few bets in Craps that will yield a better win ration than others. These are the pass, don't pass, don't come, and come bets. There are also bets called odds. These two bets are where you really want to be when you are talking about Craps odds. Just remember that the shooter must make point on the come out roll to keep the dice. Otherwise they pass on to someone else, so before you can even place the odds bets you have to have point and the come out roll.

To play the odds in Craps you actually will take down the house edge. This is why playing the odds is so important to many of the Craps players. They like having the minimal house edge. Now to bet on the odds you must first make the pass line bet. This bet can be made once the point has been thrown. Then you get to bet on some multiple of the pass line bet. This multiple can be 3 to 5 times the pass bet.

You are stating that before a seven is rolled the point will be rolled again. If the point is 6 or 8 then pay is 6 to 5 on the odds. Take a look at the table below to see a further explanation of the odds and the house edge they will create.

The X in the table stands for the point that has been made. Another thing you should know regarding the odds is that if you take the maximum allowable odds, you will always get 6 times your pass or come bet.

That is another thing we will mention regarding the bets. The odds can be taken on the come, pass, don't pass, or don't come bets. In other words you are replacing the bets you make for the odds, so that you get a higher winning amount as well as a lower house edge. In Craps whenever you can get an advantage you should take it. Craps is a game of chance, which means you can't predict the outcome you will have. You just have to bet according to what you are willing to risk losing.
