Anyone who knows anything about blackjack can tell you that it's one of the most strategically deep games in all of the online casino industry. Some versions of blackjack also have the highest payout rates of any game at any online casino if you play well enough, but it takes a lot of work to get to that level. To help you out with the process of learning blackjack, we're going to lay out a plan here to show you exactly what you'll need to do to improve at the game of blackjack in the context of online gambling.

One of the things that movies like 21 and others have made popular is the idea of card counting. Card counting is a technique used to help figure out whether the remaining cards in the deck help the player or the dealer, and it can be used to find situations where it's profitable for the player to bet big. Unfortunately, this technique is basically useless in online casinos because it relies on cards being removed from the deck for several hands in a row. Most online casinos shuffle the deck after every hand, so card counting cannot be used to help you on your quest to play excellent blackjack online.

What you need to focus on at first, instead of card counting, is the basic strategy for the game that you're trying to play. This strategy comes in the form of a set of rules or a table of how to play different hands in different situations. It doesn't take long to learn the majority of these rules, but there are some tricky situations that can go either way that you'll need to learn to get right every single time if you want to max out your payout rate at this game. These situations tend to involve when to surrender and when to double.

If you're going to be playing single-deck games like those available from Microgaming, then you'll also need to learn about the deck composition strategies. These are a variation of basic strategy that can help to boost your payout rate even higher. Long story short, playing a hard 13 doesn't always call for the same strategy. If you have a ten and a three, that could call for a different play than if you have a seven and a six. You should learn how to play these spots after you master basic strategy, however, because they are complicated and only give you a small boost in your payout rate overall.
