State of online casinos and gambling online 2011.
Hi guys,
It's been a while since I've posted here on Casino Advisor and I just wanted to inquire about your thoughts on how we're going to see things progress in 2011 with regards to online casinos and gambling on the internet in general. I know that 2010 was discussed as a year where people felt as though there were going to be a lot of positive things coming out of the industry but really what we've seen happen is that things have just gotten increasingly more difficult in many ways and more importantly there hasn't been much progress made in terms of meeting objectives and milestones that would lead to a more regulated industry. I mean this is really how things I would say stand for my friends to the South throughout the entire United States. For us here in Canada fortunately we've been taking a more proactive approach and seeing that we can't beat them so we may as well join them. I think that's one advantage to Canadians is that we see the opportunities and we're not going to ignore them for too long. I mean Canada isn't near the market the US is but the reality is that the Canadian and provincial governments can derive significant tax revenue from their endeavors in the online gaming space.
What are your thoughts on all this?

There will inevitably continue to be growth in the industry whether it being online casinos, bingo, poker, etc... As a whole the entire gaming industry will be on an upward trend as things have been for many years now without a doubt.
I believe that 2011 has a lot in store in way of regulation amongst governments really looking to increase and expand their tax horizons. I beleive that we'll see this as one of the most pinnacle changes in the online gambling industry this year.

Yeah Ontario is looking to start a new online casino right now and gambling operation and many of the provinces in Canada are proactively already either starting to or running their own operations. It's not going to be long in my opinion before the US government does pass something in way of legislation that will allow legitimate onshore gaming operators to opperate.

Although I'd like to think that we'll see a dramatic change in how things progress with legislation pertaining to internet gaming within the US I'm not entirely convinced yet that we'll see any dramatic changes this year. I could be wrong but things aren't in a state where full blown regulation is ready I beleive.
