I tried registering at a few new online casinos in the last week or so and haven't had resolve with the issue that I've been dealing with so I figured I post here to see if anyone else here is from Ohio and having the same problems that I'm having.

So basically what's been happening is that I've been trying to register and play at some new online casinos. In some cases when I hit the website I get a message saying that they don't accept players from Kentucky and turn me away right there and then and in other cases it goes all the way to when I actually start the registration process to begin playing that I get rejected saying that I'm from Kentucky.

Has anyone else here encountered this sort of issue... It really doesn't make any sense to me that I'm being rejected here as I'm from Ohio and not Kentucky. I've only contacted one of the casinos that I was attempting to play at and they really didn't help me out that much so I figured I'd ask here why they think that I'm from Kentucky and not where I actually am from which as I mentioned is Ohio.

With regards to your question it's a good one and it really sucks that this is happening to you. Because Kentucky is a neighboring state to you there in Ohio there's a good chance that since the casinos you're trying to play at are using your IP address to prevent you from playing on their casinos that this is the reason that this is happening. It could be that you're connecting to the internet though an IP address that's from Kentucky and thus being banned from playing there. I'd suggest contacting the online casinos again and letting them know that you think it's because of the IP address that you're not able to play there and that you can provide proof that you're in fact from Ohio and not Kentucky. They may request that you send them a copy of your drivers license and a recent utility bill to prove your location and that you are in fact telling the truth but it shouldn't be all that hard and I bet ya that they'd permit you to play then.

Otherwise you may want to hunt around for an online casino that will accept Kentucky players, lol even though you're not from there to make the registration process easier on you but I don't think that would really work in that from what I understand since the issues that took place in Kentucky with the domain name seizures there really isn't' any online casinos that accept players from that state.

I think that Phizzle's explanation of this is rather accurate in that it's likely due to your IP address and that you're probobly running on an internet service provider that has a data center or a communications center somewhere in Kentucky. Anyways if you want to play at those casinos you'll likely just have to contact them and explain the situation to them more clearly. I'm sure that you're not the only one that's had to deal with this at their casinos and that they're likely already used to receiving these kinds of complaints from players such as yourself not being able to play at their online casino sites.

Agreed that sounds like a reasonable explanation contact your ISP and let them know as well to find out exactly what's going on with that.

I just wanted to thank you all for the advice and info that you've given me here on the site it's really and truly greatly appreciated. I've been sorting the issue out with two of the casinos that I've been trying to play at and I've had success.

Online casinos are aware of the issues here and it's not only Ohio that has this issue but all other states that are in a close vicinity. All you need to do if you encounter the same issue is contact them and they should be able to sort you out as they have in my case. You may need to produce some proof of address such as I did with providing them with a scanned copy of my drivers license but all in all it worked out.
