Post Is the international internet casino market big?
For the longest time now I've been wondering how companies like Cryptologic, Playtech and Microgaming can survive and continue to grow if they're only able to capitalize on the international markets. The US gaming market is still one of the largest well I beleive likely second to the Asian market but I would imagine that this market would be very difficult to tap into.

All of the above mentioned gaming companies have operators that at one point were operating in the US but then all went to focus on other markets such as Europe and Canada. I would have to imagine though that these markets are starting to dry up especially in light of the fact that more and more European countries are cracking down on online gaming in general.

So my question is really is there enough juice there for these online casino software providers to stay around for a while to come with the foreign markets being so saturated?

Thanks,
Sara

Hi Sara... hope your weekend is off to a nice start. As per your question regarding the international market I would say yes and no. Yes because there is quite a few players in this market and people are playing more and more in Europe online. But I'd have to say no only because these markets are still emerging and are not nearly the size of the US market. The market in the United States as it stands right now is still at least 10 - 15 times as large as the international market. Additionally internet connectivity penetration isn't as high in these countries as it is in the United States either. All in all there is "Juice" there but there isn't really an abundance so much so that I would say that all operations that focus on the European market are successful.

Hope that helps... it's also my opinion just based on articles that I've read though so I'm not sure if I'm 100% right but it makes sense to think that the above would be correct.

Being that I'm from the UK and surrounded by Europe I'd have to disagree with phizzles comments. I think that the European gaming market is quite large and is continuing to grow month by month. I definitely think that it's growing faster then other markets out there. I do agree however with him that the US market is still by far the largest this is a given.

I for one think that this market is growing but have to agree with everyone here that it's likely not the biggest market out there the entire international market that is. I beleive that the US market is much bigger I don't exactly or necessarily know how much bigger it is just that it's definitely bigger

I have to agree that the US market is probably still the biggest market as far as internet casinos and online gambling go. In terms of land based gaming though I think that some of the other countries have taken the lead. I think that actually China and more specifically Macau has exceeded gaming revenues that you'd find in Las Vegas as a whole. So there would appear that there is a trend of land based gaming taking shape and dominating in other countries.
