US Tribal Casinos Start Intranet Gambling

Atlantis Internet Group Corp (ATIG). is a gaming company from Nevada. It has announced the launch of Intranet gaming within some tribal casinos. According to ATIG this is the first instance of legal Intranet gaming within the United States. Two Native American Tribal Casinos have already officially signed agreements with ATIG for joining the network. They are Coushatta Indian Casino in Louisiana and Coyote Valley Casino in California. The Intranet network has the potential to connect Indian Casinos from 28 American States.

This Intranet, known as Tribal Gaming Network, was established in 2009 after receiving sanction from the National Indian Gaming Commission. Thereafter ATIG has contracted with some of the leading global gaming vendors to offer Class III, Class II and online games on this network. The Tribal Gaming Network is a multi-game platform that offers various products like table games, slot machines, virtual horse racing, nationwide poker, simulated sports betting and online live dealer games. It is only the second network to offer a Powerball type of Lotto product.

The Tribal Gaming Network is not strictly online gambling because players cannot connect to the network from wherever they want. They have to be physically present in the land casino that has subscribed to the network. Within the casino ATIG's gaming platform will function on slot machines, kiosks, Android mobile phones and Samsung Tablets. Some of the games can even be played on iPhones. ATIG claims that this is the next generation server-based technology and describes it as a casino within a casino.

Commercial casino companies as well as Native American Tribal Casinos have begun to prepare for legalized online gambling by offering play-for-fun or play-for-free sites. ATIG is way ahead of the pack. President and CEO Donald L. Bailey stated in the press release that they have been in the business of play-for-fun sites since 2003. Now, with the Tribal Gaming Network, they have moved to the next stage in the path to legal online gambling. This network allows real money wagering on all games except bingo and is perfectly legal since it is on an Intranet.

Since April 2011, when the United States Department of Justice shut down three leading online poker sites, it has taken the stance that intrastate online gambling on all verticals, except sports betting, does not violate the Wire Act. Most people in America now believe that legalized online gambling is only a question of when. Before the UIGEA was enacted in 2006, the United States held approximately 60% of the global online gambling market. Though only two Tribal Casinos have as yet signed up on the ATIG Intranet, tribes across the country are seeing the first mover advantage in this and are bound to follow suit.
