The suspense has finally ended. Through a press release from its headquarters in Isle of Man the leading online casino software provider Microgaming has announced the conclusion of its online multi-player network mega tournament, Grand Slam of Slots II (GSOS II). And what is of greater interest to the online casino industry, Microgaming has also revealed the names of the top three winners of the event in the press release.

The player who won the first prize has been identified as A.P. of the Microgaming online casino Spin Palace. The Spin Palace web site already bears a congratulatory message to A.P., which reads, "Congratulations to our lucky winner, A.P. This Spin Palace player won an incredible $157,515.83 in the final tournament." The Microgaming press release adds that prior to his winning the GSOS II, A.P. won $1,000 in the Network $25k Monthly Monster Tournament. The Microgaming press release also announced that the second place player was Lucko, who won $78,780.75 and the third place player won $39,367.54. No other details were provided about the second and third place winners.

The press release also revealed other interesting information. The original prize pool was slated to be $290,000 and the original first prize was to be $100,000. But because of the increased participation in the GSOS II the prize pool was enhanced by over 50% to an impressive $456,700. All the winners received the same percentage increase in their prizes. A total of 1,588 players from the various Microgaming online casinos participated in this mega online tournament, out of which 290 lucky players ended up winning cash prizes. As no player managed to complete the full pay table, the bonus prize of $2.43 million, which could have been collected in cash or solid gold bullion, remained unclaimed. This was in any event a tall ask.

Mike Hebden, Head of Casino at Microgaming, said "After the success of the first Grand Slam of Slots in 2009, this tournament had a lot to live up to and it certainly did not disappoint. Thunderstruck II proved to be a very popular choice with players; it was a fun and exciting tournament." Hebden also had some good news to offer about the unclaimed bonus prize of $2.43 million. He indicated that Microgaming will use it to come up with an even better prize for Grand Slam of Slots III, making that a very exciting tournament. He also congratulated all the players who had won throughout the tournament and its many qualifiers. The inaugural Grand Slam of Slots tournament had a first place prize of €1 million, which was won by Stefan from South London.
