Points Based Craps StrategiesBy: Mark Freedman, Thursday March 3rd 2011

Online craps players have evolved a strategy for craps play based on points. They use only those bets that offer the lowest house edges. These bets are the Pass Line and Come bets that pay even money and have a house edge of only 1.4%. Both these bets are compounded with the single free odds bets, which increase the payout and lower the house edge even further.
The objective is to get two points on the craps table and then to back them. The player starts with a $1 bet on the Pass Line and then rolls the dice. If the throw on the come out roll is 7 or 11 the bet automatically wins and if the throw is 2, 3 or 11 the bet automatically loses. In either event the table is cleared and the player starts again.
If a point is established (and assume that the point is 4) after a come out roll the player has to make two moves. The first is to place a free odds bet of $1 on Pass Line. This is done by clicking the area just outside the Pass Line and placing the chip there so as to distinguish it from the original bet. This is important because both bets have different payouts. The second move is to place a $1 Come bet. The dice are then rolled again.
The two bets, Pass Line and Come, are tracked independently. First the Pass Line bet is considered. If the throw is a 7 then the Pass Line bet along with the free odds bet lose and are removed from the table. If the throw is a 4, which is the point, then the Pass Line bet along with the free odds are paid out and are removed from the table. In either case the player starts a fresh sequence by placing a $1 Pass Line bet. If any other number is thrown, say 9, then the Pass Line and free odds bets continue.
Now the Come bet is examined. Remember that the point is already established as 4 and that the Come bet is independent of the Pass Line bet. If the throw is a 7, 11, 2, 3 or 12 the Come bet either loses or is paid out and in both cases removed from the table. If the throw is a 9 then the Come bet chip is moved to the box marked 9. 9 is also known as the point for the Come bet. The player should then click in the box next to the chip to place a $1 free odds bet in conjunction with the Come bet.
The combined situation of both the bets as per the above sequence will be as follows. The bets on the table are the Pass Line bet with its free odds bet and 4 as a point, and the Come bet with its free odds bet on 9. Now if the throw is a 7 all bets lose and are removed from the table and the player starts from scratch. If the throw is a 4 the Pass Line and its free odds bets win and are removed from the table. The player starts with a new Pass Line bet. If the throw is a 9 the Come and its free odds bets win and are removed from the table. The player starts with a new Come bet. For any other throw all bets remain on the table and the dice is rolled again.
