In the September of 1996 Frankie Dettori rode all his seven horses to victory at Ascot. This historic event is the theme of the popular Playtech online slot game Frankie Dettori's Magic Seven. Frankie's Fantastic 7 is not a virtual racing game because it does not simulate an animated race. The horses are moved along the track based on cards dealt. There race is between seven horses, which are named Diffident, Decorated Hero, Lochangel, Fujiyama Crest, Fatefully, Wall Street and Mark of Esteem. The game is exciting because these are the seven horses that Dettori rode. So in effect the game decides the best among the best.

The horses run in their own lanes. The lanes consist of a different number of steps, ranging from 4 to 6. The horse that reaches the final step first wins this race. Obviously the odds are shorter for the horses with the fewer steps. During each game, cards are dealt for each horse. The highest ranked card wins and the corresponding horse takes one step forward. If there is a tie on the basis of ranks then the winning card is decided based on the suit of the cards. The suit strengths from highest to lowest are spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs. If there are two cards that are jointly ranked highest based on their rank and suit, both horses move one step forward. If this results in both of these horses winning, then the payouts, if any, are halved. If a joker is dealt for a horse, then the horse is eliminated from the race. Playtech Frankie's Fantastic 7 uses two decks, each containing a joker.

Players can bet on as many horses as they want by placing a chip on the betting area next to their lane number. The odds are displayed on the other side of the lane number. Horses that require only four steps offer odds of 2.4 to 1. Horses that require five steps offer odds of 5.75 to 1. Horses that require six steps offer odds of 13 to 1. There are two larger betting areas, the top three horses and the bottom three horses, marked Evens. These offer odds of 0.95 to 1. The bet wins if any of the three horses covered wins the race. The odds can also be displayed in decimal format by using the button on top right corner.

The minimum bet size in Playtech Frankie's Fantastic 7 is $1 and the maximum bet size is $50. There are four operating buttons displayed at the bottom of the screen. "Clear All Bets" withdraws all bets made after the last round. If a player has placed multiple bets and wants to withdraw only the last one he can do so using the "Clear Last Bet" button. The "Repeat Bet" button automatically places the wagers as in the last game. The player can then review the wagers and activate the game. The "Rebet & Race" button repeats the previous wager and simultaneously activates the game. Playtech Frankie's Fantastic 7 offers an Auto Play feature.
