NextGen Gaming Pty Ltd is an Australia based independent online casino games supplier. It does not offer turnkey software platforms to online casino operators, like Microgaming and Playtech do. However, its casino games, particularly online slots, are accessed by major operators and software providers. Vegas Technology, whose operators had to close down following Black Friday, exclusively offered NextGen Gaming games.

The news is that the Swedish software provider NYX Interactive AB has acquired NextGen Gaming for an undisclosed consideration. The objective of the merger is to create a content-rich software provider that combines the NYX modules of bingo, lottery and casino software with the NextGen Gaming portfolio of innovative games across the online, land-based, social and mobile gaming distribution channels. This will enable both NYX and NextGen Gaming to offer a broader product and service range. The combined entity would immediately offer over 300 online casino games to more than 40 customers. Because of the ongoing and imminent legalization of online gaming in many jurisdictions, there is a demand for state-of-the-art software from land-based casinos seeking to supplement their revenue stream with online gambling. The merged entity would be in a strong position to leverage this demand.

The statement released to the press said that the group would adopt a unified set of software standards enabling rapid delivery and distribution of online gaming content to a customer base that includes several top tier lottery operators, online casinos and sports books. The gaming content would include online slots, table games, bingo, instant-win games and scratch cards.

The senior executive teams of both NYX and NextGen will be combined. The games development will remain in Sydney, software development and operations in Stockholm and marketing and administration in London.

Commenting on the acquisition, David Flynn, chief executive officer of NYX said that the two organizations are a perfect fit. He added, "Our combined entity will be much stronger and our customers will benefit from NextGen's leading-edge games studio which produces some of the industry's best performing games. We are very excited about our future together." Staffan Lindgren, co-founder of NYX, pointed out this was a strategic move keeping in mind the regulation of the European gaming markets. It is aimed to offer the perfect software technology to online gambling operators.

Matt Davey, CEO of NextGen Gaming, stressed the synergy that would be harnessed from the merger. He said, "Leveraging our respective heritage in technology and product and our common employment cultures we are confident in our ability to develop, license and support a world-class suite of e-gaming products."
