The annual ICE Expo is a forum where leading software developers to online casinos make announcements of upcoming technology, products and tie-ups. Players usually expect big ticket announcements from Microgaming and NetEnt. Neither of them disappointed. This article describes what players at NetEnt online casinos like InterCasino and Golden Palace can expect later this year.

Virtual reality games allow players to use electronic devices and interact in 3D environment that is seemingly real. This technology is on the threshold of breaking into online casino gaming. Some software developers have made a beginning in table games like roulette. NetEnt has created a virtual reality slot machine, which is hard to conceive. And it has chosen one of its most popular titles Gonzo’s Quest. At ICE 2018 NetEnt revealed a fully playable, operator-ready version of the game.
Using state-of-the-art VR technology, Gonzo’s Quest is available through a web browser without any specific integration needed for operators.

When the game is launched commercially, players will simply have to login to their NetEnt online casino on a desktop or mobile device. They will have to press the VR tab and plug in their VR headset to enter the immersive world of Gonzo. The launch is expected in the summer of 2018, which is not too far away. Per Eriksson, CEO of NetEnt, said, "As a first-mover in virtual reality (VR), NetEnt has been at the forefront of iGaming's application of the technology since revealing its plans for VR in 2016.”

The branded video slot space is becoming highly competitive and NetEnt is a leader. To keep ahead of the pack it has announced a title based on the popular action series Narcos. Narcos has been rated in the top five digital products worldwide and is available for viewing in over 130 countries on Netflix. Its third season is premiering in the United States. Narcos was not displayed at ICE 2018 as a completed product. But was seen was liked by both critics and consumers.

Henrik Fagerlund, Chief Product Officer of NetEnt, claimed that Narcos was one of their biggest deals to date. This is saying something with titles like Guns N Roses, Jumanji and Planet of the Apes. Tim Stephen, Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Gaumont, which holds the copyright for Narcos, was sure that NetEnt would develop and create a game worthy of the brand. He pointed out that a branded slot works for the brand as well. The Narcos slot will provide a new way for fans to engage with the brand.
