From its headquarters in Isle of Man, Microgaming, the world's largest provider of online gaming software, has announced that "its award-winning games are now available on Android v2.2 Froyo devices running Adobe Flash 10.1". This new initiative complements Microgaming's existing mobile casino offering, which is available through a number of other handsets. Microgaming's mobile services are offered in partnership with Spin3. This reflects Microgaming's intense desire to ensure that its online casino products stay ahead of the pack thorough its innovative and groundbreaking new technology. The games will be available in both play-for-fun and play-for-real modes.

Android is a good vehicle for Microgaming online casino games. The analyst house Gartner predicts that Android will increase its market share to 14% of the global smart phone market in 2012 and become the number one global mobile operating system by 2014. It will overtake Windows Mobile, BlackBerry and iPhone devices. Already some of the most popular mobile phones use Android as the operating system. They include the Google Nexus One, HTC Desire and Motorola Milestone 2. Android is also the operating system for a large number of tablet or pad style devices that will enter the market in the coming years.

Betway mobile casino will be the first Microgaming online operator to offer this service. Daniel Goss, Managing Director for Betway praised Microgaming stating that they allow operators to offer their customers the most dynamic and entertaining casino games and on the market's latest platforms. He added. "It's a winning combination that has helped us grow our customer base and mobile casino business. A successful mobile casino business needs to support Android, and we are delighted to be able to meet this demand."

Mike Hebden, Head of Casino for Microgaming, explained that the interest around Android v2.2 is massive and that the Froyo user interface and experience is comparable to that of the iPhone. This platform is rapidly growing in popularity with both developers and consumers. Hebden added, "Android has more momentum than any other platform and is largely driving the increased sales of smart phones. A number of pad style devices will also soon be running Android v2.2 ."

Android games will also be offered as part of Spin3's complete solution for Android devices which will include pure native apps and will be released in the upcoming months. Spin3 is a division of Spiral Solutions Limited, which has partnered with Microgaming to provide turnkey solutions for the mobile gaming arena. It has converted the best of Microgaming games into mobile gaming format. These games include landmark slots like Mega Moolah, Thunderstruck, Avalon, Major Millions and Tomb Raider.
