Fewer New Casino Games in May 2011

Sometimes no news itself becomes news. This is true of the paucity of new online casino games releases in the Month of May. The last week of the month has already commenced and the number of new games released is far below par. Whether it is just some chance occurrence or it is the calm before the storm only time will tell.

Usually the software provider Microgaming is the first to release its new games every month. The games are launched at the end of the first week or the beginning of the second. In fact the new games are announced in the month prior to the release to build up hype. There were no announcements in April and no releases in May. Microgaming has a valid reason for this. It has been running qualifiers its mega tournament, Grand Slam of Slots II, this month and probably does not want to divert attention by releasing new games. The actual tournament will begin later this month at Microgaming online casinos and run through the beginning of June. Hence there may not be any new slot games from Microgaming in June as well.

Another leading software provider Cryptologic has not released any new games in May. This does not come as a surprise because Cryptologic has not released any new games for about six months. Cryptologic has been going through a rough patch financially and that could be the reason for this. It appears that Cryptologic is turning the corner and has announced that new super hero slots will be added. But no time limit has been set.

The software developer Vegas Technology has been releasing one new slot game every month for the past few months. Usually the games go live at Vegas technology online casinos in the third week of the month without any preceding announcement. It is unlikely for Vegas Technology to give a month a skip and therefore something may come about in the next few days.

The software provider Rival Gaming also has had no releases in May. However, March and April had many releases. In March there were four additions to the new 3D series and in April there were three new video slots. So may be Rival Gaming is taking the month off and letting the earlier releases sink in. Since Rival gaming has no fixed slot for the release of new games one cannot count this month off. There is a week left to go.

WagerWorks usually releases one game per month, but is known to skip months. Its last release was Star Trek in March 2011. Therefore something new should be around soon. And knowing WagerWorks it is bound to be good. If one software provider lives up to the tenet quality not quantity then it is WagerWorks.
