Blackjack Extreme

Blackjack Extreme is a cross between blackjack and poker in which players compete against each other. Therefore it cannot be offered at online casinos. But this new variant of blackjack is replacing poker as a home gambling game. It has been developed by MADtek Entertainment. Blackjack Extreme is played according to the rules of blackjack but there is an intermediate betting round. "If you have the heart to bluff, the courage to make big plays and the brains to stay two jumps ahead of your opponents …" then Blackjack Extreme is the game.

Blackjack Extreme is played at a poker table. Players take turns to be the dealer. The dealer accepts bets from all players and therefore takes the risk of facing a large wagered amount. Therefore he has certain privileges. The first round of betting takes place before the cards are dealt when each player makes a blind bet. There is a poker like schedule for the blind bet in which the minimum keeps on increasing with each level and the maximum is capped at three times the minimum.

The dealer then deals the cards. The players are dealt two cards as in blackjack. One card is dealt face up and the other is dealt face down. This enables other players to make some assessment of the cards left in the deck. Both the dealer's cards are dealt face down. The dealer looks at his cards and decides which one to turn up. This enables him to bluff and show a position of apparent strength or apparent weakness. The second round of betting then takes place. Players have three options. They can Raise. In this option they have to increase the bet by at least double but can do so by more. Players who exercise this option must take at least one more card. They can take more than one card if it suits them. The second option is Check. In this option they wager a bet equal to the blind bet. The third option is Fold. In this case they surrender the hand and keep half of the blind bet. The dealer can Fold and pay half the blind bet to the players who have not folded or he can decide to play his hand.

The game play in Blackjack Extreme runs as follows. The first step is that the players expose their hole cards. Natural blackjacks are paid 3 to 2. Players then play their hands according to the standard blackjack rules. The exception is those players who have Raised cannot stand on the two dealt cards. The dealer collects all the bets from the hands that go bust. As in normal blackjack, any pair may be split. The player must match the total bet on the second hand, or subsequent hands if resplit. Blackjacks on split hands pay 1 to 1. After all the players have played out their hands the dealer reveals his hole card and plays out hand. The dealer can hit on any soft hand but must stand on a hard 17 or higher. If the dealer busts he then pays the players still in play. Otherwise hand values are compared and losing bets are collected by the dealer and the winners paid. Tied hands push. The dealer position rotates clockwise and the game repeats with the new dealer.
